Procrastinating writing this first post has left me in a pristinely clean and quiet apartment, with nothing left to do but... write this first post. So, welcome to The Beginning!
I've quickly discovered that starting a project like this is not unlike beginning a college paper. I sat down at my desk a few days ago, feeling energized and inspired, took a deep breath, fingers poised over the keyboard, then stared at the blinking cursor for a few minutes.
I typed out a sentence.
Then deleted it.
Inspected my split ends for a moment.
Returned to staring.
Then decided, Now would be the perfect to time clean out my desk drawers. And after that... I should really vacuum. And more cleaning and organizing followed...
But, here we go! The idea for The Brine Project is one that dropped a determined anchor in my life a few years ago, and I'm excited to finally share it with you.
So (so!), here's what you can expect from The Brine Project:
- Simply: I want to explore flavor through a series of interviews. Specifically, interviews with creatives and thinkers within food and beverage.
- Through an in-person interview, I want to share where these people have been, how they came into their work, and where they're going next. I want to discuss how their unique background informs what they bring to the glass, or to the plate.
- At the end of the interview, we'll do a tasting! We'll talk about what we smell, what we taste.
- Post-interview, I'll deconstruct some of the tasting notes, and through photographs, will bring those tasting notes to life! In wine, we do a lot of talking about flavor profile. Now I want to break it down visually.
And we're off!!
